1. Weekly Studio Update
Happy birthday, James! 🎉 Mr. James celebrated his birthday by going to the cinemas and saw Guardians of the Galaxy vol 3. He has this to say about it:
I thought it was decent. 6/10? In some ways it was a bit heavy handed, and sometimes watching MCU stuff it feels a bit like you’re paying a tax to stay current with the “universe” in case whatever TV show or next film there is really good but relies on some details from a previous thing. No regrets but it’s not a must-watch.
Well, this Tuesday my younger son interrupted my work because he wasn’t feeling good at school, and then after I brought him home, he vomited all over the elevator. I guess I should be thankful that he didn’t throw up on my computer?
We did more cosmic-exploring this week, and Patrick and I did a thing:
That is all. More screenshots next week! ––SL
2. News of the World
As a company that prides itself on bad ideas, of course we share amongst ourselves the many bad ideas found on the internet. Turns out many of the bad ideas are, in fact, good ideas. For instance:
A. MSCHF has outdone themselves again Anti-Robocalling Robocalling Super PAC.
2. Remember the days cigarettes were the cool with Tobacco Tabby (HT LOL).
D. Have security in mind while you keep the party going: Kenny Log-Ins.
We should really start a Good Enough link blog, link roll, collection of links, link link.
3. Forever Changed
Something that’s been on my mind this week are moments in our lives that describe a clear boundary, before and after. Yes, of course, kids, graduations, first jobs… sure, those things count. But also, the more subtle moments, and in particular: reading, watching or listening to things that become those moments. Perhaps it’s a song you heard (for me: “Ideoteque”, upturned what I consider to be music I might enjoy), a TV show you saw (for me: “The Day Today,” forever changed the landscape of comedy), or a book you read, or even a video you saw on YouTube. Often these bits of content seem to come from nowhere, and yet, in so many cases, they are the results of years of unseen work that suddenly bursts into your consciousness (and subconscious, undoubtedly), rewiring your brain and transforming your tastes and perception. I find these moments, and these bits of content, utterly fascinating. I have more to say, but… not yet. ––JA
4. Who Are You? (Who, Who, Who, Who?)
We’re starting to put in some efforts to grow our audience, and we can’t help but wonder what on earth made you sign up for this newsletter in the first place, dear reader? Do you know us personally? 5. View from Our Seats
Being remote, we encourage each other to share photos of where we are and what we’re seeing. We took pictures of our desks this week. If you look closely at Barry’s desk, you’ll see a gift card with a credit card number on it. Let him know if you use it! [Editor: please don’t use it.]
